Vaccine Periodicity Schedules
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has a special plan called the Periodicity Schedule. This plan helps doctors know when kids need their vaccines as they grow up. Vaccines are important because they protect against diseases like measles, mumps, and chickenpox. It's important to get these shots on time to keep your child safe and healthy.
For adults, there is also a schedule to help keep you healthy. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have plans that tell doctors when adults should get their vaccines. Important vaccines for adults include the flu shot, and vaccines for shingles and pneumonia. Following this schedule helps protect you from serious diseases.
Always talk to your healthcare providers about which vaccines are needed for you and your children.
